BECAIVE Programs
BECAIVE training is designed to build capacity in innovative approaches and applications of Artificial Intelligence for Egyptian Archaeology and Cultural Heritage. The first 2026 workshop maps the innovation and impact of AI in researching and documenting Ancient Egyptian heritage.
Registration is officially open for BECAIVE Training Workshop 1.0 (17–22 August 2026 at NRIAG, Cairo). Theme: Mapping AI Innovation in Heritage.
Introducing key principles and applications of AI with input from specialists and data creators. Participants trace digital technology from recording sites and artefacts to databases, access protocols, and authorised information systems.
Workshops 1 & 2 / AI basics, search, ethics, and protocols
Focusing on advanced integration with global databases and creative outputs at national and international levels, including methods for reconnecting dispersed collections to their physical sites.
Workshops 3 & 4 / Provenance, linking, and outputs
Enhancing advanced skills and capacity to lead international research databases. Developing creative, AI-led curation workflows for special collections, datasets, and Ministry-controlled digital archives.
Workshops 5 & 6 / Advanced AI curation
Six workshops of 50 hours each, equivalent to 5 credit points per workshop
Certified programme pathway worth 30 credits when all training events are completed
Priority support for Egyptian researchers, archaeologists, heritage professionals, museum curators, and digital technologists
Project-based mentoring with participant activity recorded in an individual training plan

Workshop 1.0 / August 2026
Cairo / Hawara Pyramid, Fayoum
Workshop 1.0 runs from 16-21 August 2026 and combines AI, GIS, geophysics, VR, project studios, and applied field documentation.
