Hawara Pyramid & Labyrinth

Hawara is an ancient cemetery site in the south-eastern Fayum region. The site is the burial place of Amenemhat III, the last great pharaoh of the 12th Dynasty.

The huge mortuary temple that originally stood adjacent to this pyramid is believed to have formed the basis of the complex of buildings with galleries and courtyards called a “labyrinth” by Herodotus.

Due to rising groundwater levels from nearby agricultural canals, the burial chambers and labyrinth remain flooded. BECAIVE utilizes non-invasive geophysics (ERT and GPR) to scan underground voids and model a sustainable dewatering system to preserve this historical marvel.
